So I worry and stress out about nearly everything. You probably think I am over-reacting and most of the time, I probably am. However, there are some things that are perfectly legitimate reasons for being worried. This is one of those things.
This is how Matt spent his climbing trip to Peru. Here he is on the summit of Mt Tocllaraju. It takes my breath away just looking at it. Eventhough it's stresses me out, I am very proud of Matt's accomplishment (I know I couldn't do it).
Matt's dad Mark, Uncle Jon and his Grandpa Joe (92 years young) came into town this weekend. Matt's Uncle Jon competed in the Escape from Alcatraz race today. Watching the race was so much fun and very inspiring. Jon did an incredible job - we were all very impressed and proud of his hard work.
Here are some fun photos from our weekend:
This was the first weekend in over a month that Matt and I were both in town. We definitely took advantage of it. We walked along Ocean Beach where there was an anti-war protest happening and then went to Golden Gate Park to check out the Bison (yes they are in the park!) and the Botanical Gardens.
On Saturday night, we saw the SF Ballet. I had gotten tickets from Matt for my b-day. The SF Ballet is the oldest ballet company in the country just shy of it's 85th anniversary. Matt not only stayed awake during the whole thing but he said he actually enjoyed it. It also gave us an excuse to get dressed up and go to dinner.
To top it off, I ran 9 miles on Sunday as part of my training for the SF Marathon, July 29. Needless to say, I was not happy about the run and I complained and whined about it for nearly an hour before Matt shoved me out the door and sent me on my way. I was much happier once I got home and not too sore today...
I am back from Mexico and now all I can do is live vicariously through my photos. With the exception going out for dinner and drinks. This was my view for 7 days.
While Jon, Jenny and Matt were more productive - they actually went diving a few times, I did nothing but ready trashy novels/magazine, sleep, listen to my ipod and drink strawberry daquiries. Oh, I did run one day and Jen and I got massages :) Does that count as productive??
Here are a few snapshots of our trip. I'll put up some additional pics in a few days of things like our dinners, drinks at a cave bar and my own Andy Warhol pic of Jon/Jen/Matt/Me. I know you can't wait for that!
I have decided that my ideal job would be to work one week and vacation the next week. Who's hiring for an every other week sales person?
Matt and I had a great weekend. It was 70-75 degrees and sunny the whole time! Yes people, 75 degrees in November (living in California has it's benefits). My brother Rod and a bunch of friends, Mike, Clara, Steve, Marnie, Daynia were all in town. The weekend broke down like this:
Friday: Picked up everyone from the airport and went to a Marina bar for last call. We all headed back to Matt and my place and Mikey who does lighting for gigs on LA was able to get our Disco ball working!
Saturday: We rallied the troops for brunch at the Cliff House. Patty took me here on the way to the airport when I came out for my interview with Six Apart. The view/experience helped me decide that I was ready to move to San Francisco so I like to share that with everyone that comes to visit. We then drove around the city and went to Zietgiest for a beer and to enjoy a beautiful November day. My friend Marissa at work recommended a great restaurant, Andalu in the Mission for dinner and then we went to a fabulous bar with an awesome roof top deck. The perfect way to end an awesome day.
Sunday: We tailgated at Monster Park before the 49er/Viking game. I am sad to say the Vikings had a terrible showing but the game was still a ton of fun. Most, if not all of us, had never seen an outdoor footbal game so that in itself was a blast. Rod was the only one in true Viking's gear but I did my best to show my support wearing purple and Viking pigtails. I can't forget that Matty wore Rod's Vike's mask so he too was in costume. By the end of the day we were all exhausted so we ordered pizza for dinner at our place. A nice end to a full day.
So, Matt has always said that he isn't good with kids. He's worried that he'll forget his own on top of the car and drive away or something....
So you can imagine how astonished I was when my little nephew Reece climbed up into Matt's lap during the Viking's game on Sunday at my mom's house in Minneapolis. You can see that Matt seemed to adjust pretty well. By the end of the day, Matt and Reece were old buddies.
