It's true - I am kind of a nerd. Matt and I just sat down after a long and successful day of Christmas shopping and flipped on the TV to Discovery Channel. "How It's Made" was on.
I immediately became engrossed in the show. Matt's was laughing at me cuz I was literally "bugged eyed with my mouth hanging open" engrossed in this show. So, what were they making you might ask?
Chains
Yes, I was completely engrossed in how a machine assembles metal chains. A few weeks ago, the same thing happened while watching how they make socks.
I am a total NERD. But I do recommend you check it out- it's interesting!
Well, for those of you who aren't aware, I am still trying to sell my house in Minneapolis. We've now decided to see if we can find someone to rent it.
Here is the Craig's list post. If you know of anyone that might be interested in a short-term lease - let me know. Don't let price be an issue, we'll consider other offers!
Saw this in a magazine the other day - I think it may be my new mantra.
1. Out of clutter, find simplicity.
2. From discord, find harmony.
3. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity

What does your name mean and why did your parents choose it for you?

Happy - not too tough to figure out. I'd like to think that my parent's choose it for me because they thought of me as a joyous addition to their lives but I think it had more to do with my mom liking short names (her name is Merrilee and it always got butchered) and my dad not wanting anyone to call me Danny.
From what I understand the plan was for my name to be Danielle Joy Taylor, my dad was concerned that people would call me Danny so they went with Joy Danielle Taylor instead. This could be one of those made-up memories but hopefully my dad or mom will comment to this post and set the record straight.
Even though a name like "Joy" can be a lot of pressure, I do think my name ended up defining who I am. I know it sounds strange but having a name like Joy can't help but remind you to be happy, love life and smile often (when I am not sticking out my tongue of course...)
I completed the San Francisco MARATHON yesterday. I did it in 4:30:50 - that's an average of 10:20 miles. I expected to do the 26.2 miles at an average of 11:00-11:30 miles so I was very pleased with myself.
I am having trouble walking today but it was worth it.
I only cried once during the race and it was more out of happiness and then I cried a few times when I was done. It was really really cool.
Here are a couple photos:

Unfortunately, the timing is off a little bit but this is a video of me singing at the North Beach Festival last year with Matt and Meredith. One of the funniest summer days I've had...
Matt's dad Mark, Uncle Jon and his Grandpa Joe (92 years young) came into town this weekend. Matt's Uncle Jon competed in the Escape from Alcatraz race today. Watching the race was so much fun and very inspiring. Jon did an incredible job - we were all very impressed and proud of his hard work.
Here are some fun photos from our weekend:
Happy Birthday Mrs. Jennifer Flanagan! I wish I could be there to celebrate with you. Lisa and I discovered the "Jenny" flower in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and so we wanted to capture it just for you :)
Here are some photos of Jenny and I from her last trip to SF. I am lucky enough to see Jen rather often - it's almost as if she lives here!
And finally, I had to post my favorite picture of me and Jen. I've posted it before. I think it does the best job of conveying how I feel about Jenny. Having Jenny has one of my closest and dearest friends is a true gift. For me, Jen represents a big hug and a pat on the back. She's someone that you can always depend on to give you comfort and confidence when you need it the most.
Love you Jenny. See you real soon.
