One of my very good friends, Jon is looking to move out to San Francisco. He is a Librarian in Minneapolis (and a damn good one I might say). He just applied for an open Librarian job at the San Francisco Public Library.
If you happen to know anyone in the public library system who could help him out, please let me know. Or if you have any advice on the best way to get into the system, that would be great too.
BTW, Jon is on Vox too so if you can lend a helping hand to fellow Voxer, I'd sure appreciate it!
I love my good friend Jon Flanagan for many reasons but one of them is he's the one of the few friends I have that is actually older than me :) I've got issues with age so I take comfort in knowing that Jon will ALWAYS be older than me (and probably grayer).
Jon, you are one of my favorite friends. I hope you have a wonderful birthday. I wish I could be there to celebrate with you. I miss you every day.
I am back from Mexico and now all I can do is live vicariously through my photos. With the exception going out for dinner and drinks. This was my view for 7 days.
While Jon, Jenny and Matt were more productive - they actually went diving a few times, I did nothing but ready trashy novels/magazine, sleep, listen to my ipod and drink strawberry daquiries. Oh, I did run one day and Jen and I got massages :) Does that count as productive??
Here are a few snapshots of our trip. I'll put up some additional pics in a few days of things like our dinners, drinks at a cave bar and my own Andy Warhol pic of Jon/Jen/Matt/Me. I know you can't wait for that!
I have decided that my ideal job would be to work one week and vacation the next week. Who's hiring for an every other week sales person?
So, I tried to capture this exchange visually, but it wasn't working so I will re-enact it here but you can always go to Jon's Blog to see it live.
Moving away from home has given me a renewed appreciation for good friends. Matt and I have been blessed with many but there has always been an extra special tie between Matty and his childhood/high school buddies. So much that many of the gals that have made our way into this group have adopted this group as our own and it's become some of the closest friend we have as well.
So, this exchange is just a little example of how "sweet" (I am sure they'll kill me for using such a word) the friendship is between these guys. It is also an awesome example of how Vox can help keep good friends connected in very real ways. This conversation went from Minneapolis, to San Francisco, to Minneapolis to Equador all within 48 hours.
Jon writes about a cool band he thinks we should all check out and that he is going to see in Mpls. (M Ward). Here are the comments:
Matt comments: "Cool daddio. I just bought us tickets for the show at the Fillmore in September. How I miss having Jon around to tell me when and where the music's at!"
Jon comments: "Likewise, I miss having Matt around, knowing he'd always be up for checking out music"
Eric comments: "And I miss hearing you guys talk about all the things you miss.
I miss seeing these conversation live and in person but happy to have Vox to here to allow me to have them virtually.
